Ask your local grocer to stock items you like!

We are fortunate in our neighborhood to have a grocery store with a section dedicated to the health conscious consumer.  Yokes Fresh Market.  They are always happy to take a special request for an item that I really like but they do not sell.  I think the practice is smart:  if I really like something enough to go out of my way to request it, chances are there are other people who will like it too.

I hope there is a growing trend in America of people like us who have read the research and decided to change over to a plant based, no added fat diet.  The word "diet" bothers me because this really is a change  we made for life, not a temporary fad.

In the past I asked Yokes to carry a soda that is sweetened with fruit juice instead of sugar called IZZE Sparkling Juice.  That was years ago and they still carry it so people must be buying it.

I recently asked them to sell Bragg 24 Herb Seasoning Mix.  They just started carrying it a couple of weeks ago and I am crossing my fingers that people discover it and like it as much as I do.
A couple of months ago I asked them to carry PB2 Powder but so far I haven't seen it on the shelves.  It is an important item, my husband uses it almost every day.  I couldn't make our recipe for Thai Peanut Noodles or Peanut Butter Cookies without it.  Maybe I will ask again.

Today I asked them to look into Soy Curls and see if they could start selling them because it would be so much more convenient than having to order them online.  I tried Soy Curls for lunch the other day with barbeque sauce--OMG it was wonderful!

Next I plan to hit them up with Freeze Dried Fruits.  A couple other things I have to buy somewhere else are Mori-Nu boxed Lite Tofu (soft and firm), Peanut Butter and Maple Extracts.

Maybe I should just take some samples over to bribe them.....

So the moral of the story is, don't be shy.  Ask your local grocer to sell items that you really enjoy but that are hard to find.  The more people that start eating this way, the easier it will be for all of us to enjoy variety.  And then thank them.
Thank You Yokes!
