Kitchen Backsplash in Slate

Last week I decided to finally start installing a backsplash for our kitchen.  It was one of the items not completed by the previous owner before we bought the house.  I have been intermittently working on a design and finally just thought, "Do something or paint for goodness sake!"  I was tired of myself.
So I picked a border I liked from Home Depot, nice and cheap but gorgeous.  Then remembered that one time we found an empty new house way out in the country and walked through it years ago and the kitchen backsplash actually took my breath away.  It was very simple but I loved it.  It was slate turned at a 45 degree angle, about 3" squares.  I decided to use 6" squares for our backsplash and bought tumbled slate and non-tumbled slate and mixed them up.  I am so very pleased with the final look of our new wall:
