Window Seat Project

I was being lazy the other day, not yet fully awake and planning what to do with a precious day off.  I looked around at my messy bedroom and decided it was overdue for a mini-makeover.  The best window in the house for viewing our koi pond is in our master bedroom, but there is nowhere to sit and ponder.  Correction, there was no where to sit and ponder.
Although there were many other items on my "To-Do" list for the weekend, I decided to strike while the ambition was hot and off to Home Depot I went after taking a few measurements.

Beadboard Window Seat in Progress

Moulding around the bottom of the front and sides.  Corner moulding to hide the edges of the beadboard.

I found some outdoor cushions on clearance at Target—these will work fine for now.
I built the framing out of 2x4's so it feels sturdy.  I installed a piano hinge so the seat can be raised to allow access to the box.  Now I have a little extra space for storage and a place to plan my next adventure with a cup of coffee and fish to keep me company.  Left to do?  Paint the whole thing white to match the trim in our house and line the inside box with aeromatic cedar panels.
